YewMaker, the executive lead of the Sustainable Medicines Partnership (SMP), is announcing that Jones Healthcare Group has joined as a founding Collaborator.

The SMP is a not-for-profit private-public collaboration executing projects to make the use of medicines more sustainable and less wasteful.

Jones Healthcare is a global provider of advanced packaging and medication dispensing solutions. In its collaboration within the SMP, the company will use its century of regulated healthcare packaging expertise, innovative technologies, and patient focus to make meaningful impacts in the areas of sustainable packaging and digitization.

As a first focus, Jones Healthcare will work with SMP to develop multi-platform frameworks including digital-first prototypes for medicines information, leveraging smart packaging technology. The goal of this work is to reduce the environmental and financial cost of today’s paper information leaflets by creating alternative, patient-centred, digital approaches.

The company will also contribute to work related to sustainable packaging innovations that are less wasteful, more standardized, and more recyclable, including medication adherence packaging.
