Jones Healthcare Group Expands Integrated Packaging Capabilities with Thermoforming Acquisition
New capability strengthens medication adherence and convenience-vial packaging programs while expanding specialized packaging offering across health, wellness and nutrition markets
Jones Healthcare Group has acquired an operating thermoforming facility and related business assets in Brampton, Ont., adding in-house production of custom-formed packaging components to its integrated offering.
The acquisition includes the facility, equipment and an experienced team of colleagues who will join Jones Healthcare. The addition complements the company’s existing expertise in printed packaging components, contract packaging services and medication dispensing solutions.
For pharmacy, thermoforming is already integral to Jones Healthcare’s medication adherence packaging, where formed blisters organize medications by dose and time. It also supports blister-and-backer-card formats that secure small cylindrical convenience or travel vials—used for solid-dose medications and similar products—for retail display. Bringing this capability in-house strengthens production control and coordination across formed components, printed packaging, and filling and assembly services.
The new capability will also support continued development across both established applications. In medication adherence packaging, it will enable materials innovation and design enhancements that improve handling and ease of use. In convenience-vial packaging, it will complement the company’s planned installation of an additional bottle and vial line later this year.
Beyond these applications, thermoforming creates opportunities to support current and prospective customers with specialized formats such as custom blisters, trays and inserts for kitting and assembly, retail-ready packaging, and other formed components tailored to specific product, distribution and consumer requirements.
“Customers are increasingly looking for packaging partners that can manage more of the process with fewer handoffs,” says Ron Harris, President and CEO of Jones Healthcare. “Bringing thermoforming in-house strengthens important areas of our existing business, gives our teams greater opportunity to innovate and creates new possibilities for customers across health, wellness and nutrition. It is a complementary capability that makes our broader portfolio more connected and more valuable.”
The acquisition was completed on August 1, 2026, and the Brampton thermoforming operation will continue under Jones Healthcare Group ownership.
